Woodland Park Zoo

Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo (WPZ) has given an extreme makeover to their Humboldt Penguin Exhibit. The 17,000 sq. ft. outdoor exhibit presents an authentic view of the rugged, arid coastline home to the penguins. MCD developed Peruvian-style folk art graphics and applied them to murals, gates, donor recognition and other graphic elements. The exhibit has been popular with the public from the opening, and won a Design Excellence Award from the Seattle Design Commission. MCD was honored to join a stellar design team that included WPZ specialists and the exhibit designers: Studio Hanson/Roberts.
