Norway’s leading stair producer, Hagen, chose Ralston & Bau to transform an old tramway garage in Skøyen, Oslo and make it into it’s flagship showroom. The 1000 m2 space was inaugurated by Fabian Stang, the mayor of Oslo on the 27th of August 2009. The concept is inspired by the works of the artist M. C. Escher, who used stairs as a major subject in his art.
When you enter the showroom you arrive at the entrance of the Stair Garden – before your eyes different stairs lead up to a second floor. Individually styled rooms give each stair a fitting surrounding, for example a Japanese inspired interior with a dark laqued stair and a happy family’s home entrance, where the stair becomes a playground. Meeting spaces are included among the stairs. The whole Stair garden is an invitation to discover the product in an exquisite and human environment.
