Santa Monica Animation Studio

Gwynne Pugh Urban Studio completed an adaptive reuse of a 1940s bowstring and brick warehouse in Santa Monica. The animation studio, which as achieved significant commercial success, desired an interior renovation that was straightforward and economical, while also elegant and inspiring. With viewing and editing spaces, general offices, and production facilities, the design shines as a representative of Urban Studio’s keen eye for clean and sharp design. Operating on a tight budget and timeline, the completion of this project involved significant negotiation with the city and utility companies to ensure a smooth transition from the studio’s previous location.
