General concept of Greencenter
Greencenter® is a new generation of shopping centres reconciling man and his environment through a quality environmental approach and an appropriate commercial offer, combining shops, services (restaurants, child-minding, etc.) and leisure facilities, all distributed in medium-sized and small areas. Today, the concept is evolving towards greater urban mix through the development of Eco-Neighbourhoods combining housing, activities and shops. Located south west of Salaise-sur-Sanne, the Greencenter® is part of the “Plein Sud” business park project between the Route de Valence (N7) and the Paris-Ventimiglia railway line.
The Greencenter® is developing around a simple but varied pedestrian pathway 13 to 26 metres wide which links all the shops and restaurants. The shops are organised in clusters focusing on household goods, personal goods and leisure activities. Before entering this large pedestrian mall, visitors leave their car or motorcycle in a tree-lined park in which pools and swales signal the presence of water. The combination of wind, water and plant life contributes to environmental comfort (cooling of the air in summer) and to treatment of run-off water by plants to create a place in which plant and animal wildlife is preserved.
