Based on the idea that the built environment can positively affect patient outcomes, the Rust Medical Center design uses the latest evidence based principles and process improvement thinking. The facility is designed to minimize the risk of hospital acquired infections and to maximize natural daylight and outside views, which provides healing properties and enhances the work environment. To promote wellness, the lines between indoors and outdoors are blurred with healing gardens located throughout the facility. These restorative gardens mirror the natural Southwest environment and provide spaces for refuge and family gathering.
