Printemps

The redesign of Printemps, completed in September 2010, combines the Paris tradition with a fresh contemporary environment. With an overall plan to replace the “department store image, Yabu Pushelberg combined freshness and energy in subtle, yet elegant ways. Printemps retail space is conceived as a series of rooms, like a large mansion, each with its own unique and identifiable character, to create a residential ambience in order to avoid commercial stereotypes and promote a relaxing atmosphere. An eclectic collection of art and furniture pieces throughout contribute to the refined residential feeling, allowing a sense of graciousness, longevity, and durability representative of the citys history and chic style.
The re-design of the iconic department store rests on a breakthrough of an immense underpass, a true link between the historic heritage of the building and its new identity.
