Located in Lima, Peru, National Stadium features a one-of-a-kind façade. The project began as a contest held by the stadium in which designers could submit their ideas for lighting the façade. In order to stand out from other submissions, Paz realized she needed to develop an entirely unique solution. She approached Traxon & e:cue with her idea to develop something interactive, utilizing Traxon’s bright fixtures and e:cue’s control abilities. Having previously worked with Traxon’s products, Paz knew that Media Tube and Wall Washer XB would be the perfect solution, allowing the focus to be on the light and the architecture, not the source. After her idea was selected, Paz and the team successfully tackled the challenge of installing the entire solution in 100 days, finishing in time for the stadium opening. Advanced control capabilities provide an unparalleled interactive experience by communicating the emotion inside the stadium to visitors on the outside. If a goal is scored during a football game, or the crowd is showing excitement, the lighting on the façade will reflect the emotion. This project is also unique in that it only required about 1,700 fixtures to illuminate the entire stadium façade. Traxon’s fixtures offer an energy efficient solution, which can be seen from great distances. The façade lighting not only upgrades the experience for everyone who visits the stadium, it represents the game of football to the people of Peru.
