In the Lyons Residence, the young clients desired a space that brought nature inside the home. They wanted to create views of their private two acre property and were open to non-traditional ideas about space. Given these ideas, the architects responded by merging the closets and bath into one large room. The symmetrical plan is unified as a whole yet achieves segmentation of function via strategically placed windows, glass and mirrors which aid in defining areas of dressing, bathing and washing. A varying ceiling height creates drama while horizontal details pull ones eye around the room. A Corian and frameless glass shower, bath and chandelier sit prominently at the heart of the room, yet, via reflection, dissolve away behind reflections of the landscape.
