Little Ballroom

Willow saplings; 30’ X 30’ X 24’ high This temporary sculpture in downtown Melbourne, Australia was meant to resonate with the Old World look of the train station nearby and to contrast ancient ways of building with contemporary architecture. I hoped to arrest the eye of the passerby, to spark the imaginations of the millions of people who flood into Federation Square for museum going, concerts, and dining, and to evoke a sense of Nature in the midst of city bustle. http://media.theage.com.au/national/selections/woody-weeds-now-a-masterpiece-3853307.html http://the189.com/feature/interview-with-american-sculptor-patrick-dougherty/
