GlaxoSmithKline Navy Yard Offices

The new corporate offices for GlaxoSmithKline showcase a state-of-the-art flexible office environment and sustainable design strategies. Natural daylight plays a significant role in the lighting design for the building. Electric light sources are designed to supplement daylight throughout the SMART work office plan. Narrow aperture fluorescent luminaires tied to daylight harvesting controls are configured to place light where it is needed deep into the building core. Floor lamps that provide direct/indirect illumination for open office areas to balance with daylight LED task lights that provide localized lighting. Lighting consumes 25% less power than allowed by code and the project has received LEED Platinum Certification for both Core and Shell and Interior.
