Award-winning architects and designers Jestico Whiles has designed the new London boutique for the leading ladies footwear brand DUO.
Located on St Martins Courtyard in Covent Garden, the new 125 sq m boutique shop opened on Saturday 2nd July. It has been uniquely designed to display DUOs collection of tailored boots and shoes in an elegant and contemporary environment inspired by the tradition of fine boot making.
Throughout the shop, rough materials including concrete, aluminium and leather are employed using a fine joinery method to create an ambience of contrasts.
Crafted timber rafts, pre-fabricated by skilled craftsmen in their joinery workshop and then polished and assembled on site, are set against a backdrop of industrial looking concrete.
Jestico Whiles design adds an individual twist to the finishes through bespoke detailing, from Hungarian point formwork, a particular style of parquet flooring in herring-bone pattern for the concrete, to the end-grain rough-hewn oak flooring.
Inspired by the rich details and materials of the products on sale, fine finishes of bespoke Italian leather mosaic are used on the walls as well as under the glass top surface of the till point, specially designed for the new boutique.
The antique and reclaimed pieces of furniture have been individually selected by Jestico Whiles to suit the sophisticated atmosphere of the store.
Beautiful Italian aluminium pendants complement a carefully managed dynamic lighting scheme of metal halide and LED spots, which adjust throughout the days and seasons of the year to suit the mood of the store, reflecting the customer footfall and adjusting the contrast of the display areas.
The new Duo boutique is the latest project from Jestico Whiles award-winning Interiors and Hotels Studio, which has carved a reputation for producing high quality design for a prestigious client list.
