Chovar House

The project consists of a single family house of approximately 200m2, located in a residential neighborhood in the foothills of the city of Santiago.

The block where the property is located corresponds to a succession of similar lots, about 20mx30m. The plastic exercise begins with a closed volume towards the neighbors and open in the longitudinal direction of the site. A window on the upper level of the east facade opens up to the views of the Andes, maintaining privacy with a high sill.

This limits views from the outside to the inside, and reciprocally, outlines the hills selectively eliminating the immediate plane of the city.

The program responds to a layout customized to the lifestyle of its occupants. In this sense, we gave volumetric prominence to the three major programs located on the first floor: kitchen, dining and living. Each dislocates from the larger volume, oriented in different directions to visually dominate the courtyard area.
