A facility for adolescents with drug and alcohol related issues was designed to create a safe and warm environment for teens and their families. Meeting rooms, administrative offices and activity spaces are included in this 3-story space. Major structural work was required to lower the Basement level slab to allow that area to be usable and a new internal stair spanning all 3 floors was designed as a light box. An exterior screen, illuminated from within, acts as a sign and also a symbol, as it moves from the street to the interior, acting as a metaphor for shedding light on the problem of addiction.
