Barnes Foundation

The Barnes Foundation’s world-famous art collection arrived at the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia and opened on May 19, 2012. CGA designed a series of 130-foot long serpentine “ribbons” that wound through the trees on the Parkway and announced the upcoming arrival of the new museum. The installation previewed paintings from this world-renowned collection of impressionist and early modern art as well as its unique “wall ensembles” in which Barnes personally combined paintings with metalwork, sculpture and decorative arts. The signs were modular to allow for reconfiguration and updates during construction.
