Who We Are
Architype was created as a means through which to advance the discussion of design within specific building typologies and explore the influence that type has on the design process. Acting as a comprehensive database of innovative projects delineated by building typologies, Architype is a leading research tool that features architect firm listings and profiles, material libraries and additional resources such as the latest industry news and job postings for the architecture and design community.
Architype Review
The primary goal of Architype Review is to honor those projects that are challenging the limits and redefining the norms of certain building types.
Architype Review was created in 2006 by a group of architects, academics and designers seeking a forum through which to promote discussion and evaluate architectural projects that are responding to a similar set of challenging issues. We strive to find work that represents a wide range of voices within the profession. In addition, Architype Review seeks to become a design resource for architects, students, clients and educators promoting innovation in the field.
Projects considered for Architype Review are found through an open submission and nomination process. The final selections are made by the editors and featured guest editors of Architype Review. The projects are selected for their innovative response to a set of challenging issues within a given type. Projects are presented in the words and images of their own creative team and purposefully not rewritten or evaluated in the publication. The text, credits and images for each project are those of the submitter and may not represent the opinions and views of Architype Review. Architype Review is a division of ArchitypeReview, LLC and is not affiliated with any other company or product. All projects selected for Architype Review are chosen prior to any sponsors for each issue. All projects are nominated and selected solely on their individual merit.
