Convertible Courtyards House

This project is an extension of a kitchen, living, dining, bathroom, laundry and master bedroom and ensuite to an existing weatherboard cottage. Connected via a glazed linkway which separates the new master bedroom and ensuite, the living room is straddled by two outdoor courtyards (one to the north and one to the south).

A manually operated, sliding, retractable roof helps regulate sun and rain on the two outdoor spaces, while two sets of bifolding doors ensure excellent connection between the indoors and outdoors.

In the rear, an elevated aqueduct sculpturally cascades rainwater to a slimline tank. Solar panels, double glazed windows, high levels of insulation, LED lighting and regionally sourced timbers round out the sustainable features.
